When Danielle first called, she had one simple request. She wanted to walk in on her wedding day and see everything completely done so her family and friends would not have to lift a finger or stay behind to clean up. She and Zach were thoughtful about everyone around them, and that same care showed in every part of their celebration.
They even chose to hyphenate their last name, becoming Mr. and Mrs. Simmons Warren, a reflection of the equality and mutual respect that defined their day. And it all happened on a Thursday, one of the best kept secrets in event planning. Hello vendor savings and flexible schedules!

Not the Morning She Planned
The night before her wedding, Danielle’s makeup artist had to cancel. Thanks to our local connections, we got her a morning appointment with Beauty by Abbie G, and she absolutely saved the day. It can be hard to find artists with experience in these tones, but Abbie made it look effortless. I swung by with a Gramps Coffee to help reset the mood, and by the time Danielle left that chair, she was glowing inside and out.
A Journey Worth the Drive
The celebration started with a caravan from Owensboro to Garden of the Gods for the ceremony, followed by an intimate reception at White Chateau with about 30 of their closest people. During her toast, Danielle mentioned every guest by name, sharing how each had shaped their story. The room was full of laughter, tears, and the kind of warmth that only comes from genuine connection.
Boho Without the Feathers
Danielle’s vision of “boho without the feathers” came to life through amber vases, wicker placemats, orange velvet runners, and a warm glow of candlelight. Tia and Tamera, our signature peacock chairs, framed the sweetheart table beautifully, while Serena, our neutral floral wall, created a soft, elegant backdrop.

What I didn’t realize at first was how meaningful those peacock chairs would be. When I saw Danielle and Zach sitting there, I remember thinking our chairs had never looked better, and I was right, but not for the reason I thought.
The peacock chair has long been a symbol of Black pride and power, often seen as a throne of beauty and liberation since the 1960s. Seeing Danielle radiant, confident, and joyful seated in that silhouette felt like a quiet but powerful moment of poetry.

Our tan linens on the cocktail tables and White Chateau’s farmhouse tables inside tied everything together with effortless warmth.
It was also the debut of Hazel, our stained wood flower box welcome sign with custom vinyl and silk florals that greeted guests with style.
A Venue That Makes It Easy to Shine
We love working at White Chateau. It is one of those venues that is already beautiful, so every detail just enhances what is there, and their team is top notch. I spent the night working with my pal Kenzie and between the two of us, guests wanted for nothing.
Jumping the Broom: A Tradition of Joy and Legacy
One of the most moving parts of the night was the Jumping the Broom ceremony, a tradition rooted in African American history. During slavery, when Black couples were denied the legal right to marry, jumping the broom became a symbolic act of union, sweeping away the past and stepping into a shared future.
Today, it remains a joyful celebration of love, resilience, and heritage. Watching Danielle and Zach honor that tradition was incredibly powerful. And in the most generous gesture, they donated their broom to the Something Borrowed inventory so other couples can borrow it free of charge. You can now reserve it here!

Small Guest List, Big Heart
With around 30 guests, the night felt more like a family dinner than a formal reception, complete with J’s Good Grub parked outside and laughter spilling from every corner.
Before their own first dance, Danielle and Zach surprised several couples by playing their first dance songs. One by one, from the newest newlyweds to the longest married (the groom’s parents) they took to the floor. Watching each couple relive that moment was pure magic.
In another unplanned-but-perfectly-them moment, Danielle and Zach even served the cake to their guests themselves, a sweet reflection of how they love the people around them.
A Picture Perfect Sendoff
For their nighttime exit, they wanted something other than sparklers. I found this biodegradable dried flower confetti on Amazon. It was safe for the farm and venue grounds, and the result was pure magic.

The SB Touch
Danielle and Zach trusted Something Borrowed to handle the details so they could focus on what mattered most: celebrating love, family, and the start of forever. We handled all decor setup and teardown, along with day-of coordination to keep everything running smoothly.
We could not be more grateful that they trusted us to play a small part in such a big love story.

About the Author

Summer has been planning events since she could talk. From her sister’s Spongebob-themed birthday at age 7 to Hopkins County’s first (and only) “End of Middle School Blowout” (every ticket came with a free hot dog, and yes, the DJ brought a fog machine), she’s always had a knack for bringing people together and making it memorable.
In college, she hosted everything from sorority formals to nonprofit fundraisers, and today her experience spans hundreds of nonprofit and corporate events, concerts, festivals, and more weddings, birthdays, reunions and showers than she can count.
If you're looking for an event planner with an eye for detail, a heart for people, and just the right amount of bossiness to keep things running like clockwork, Summer’s your girl.
